Paros is the bigger of the two islands: whitewash and stone in the hill villages, harbours down by the sea, and a wind with opinions about everything. It’s big enough to fill a day on foot, and small enough that a swim is never far from the end of a walk.

What a day on Paros feels like
Think of it as four hours out with someone who knows the roads. There’s some walking, usually a swim, and a meal you actually sit down for. What there isn’t is a sprint from one viewpoint to the next.
Some of the time is inland, in the villages and up in the hills; some is down by the sea. The mix depends on the heat and the wind, so it changes from day to day. That isn’t a flaw in the plan. It is the plan.
What to bring
Comfortable shoes, a hat, sun cream, and swimming things in case the sea looks tempting. Our driver collects you from anywhere on Paros and brings you back again.
Fancy both islands?
Four hours suits one island nicely. Make it eight and we’ll cross to Antiparos as well, and still have you back by evening.
We come here to walk. A village is somewhere to wander, not a box to tick.
The hills
Stone paths and white villages, with the shape of the whole island laid out below. This is where the proper walking happens.
The coast
Where the heat gives way to a sea breeze, and a swim rounds off the walk.
Between us
Our favourite beaches, paths and quiet corners aren’t named here. Post a quiet cove online and it isn’t quiet for long, so we keep ours for the people in the van.
